Cage-tastic Reviews: Dog Eat Dog (2016)

Dog Eat Dog is a thriller movie directed by Paul Shrader. Dog Eat Dog is about an ex con named Troy (Nicolas Cage) who is fresh out of prison trying to make a big score with his 2 friends Mad dog (Willem Dafoe) and Diesel (Matthew Cook). The score includes them kidnapping a mans 1 year old child because he owes someone a lot of money. The movie is called Dog eat dog because they end up going on their own and betraying each other. The name is honestly quite self explanatory. The whole movie is completely insane and will keep you glued to the screen.  I would have to say Dog eat dog is one of Nicolas Cage’s best movies in a very long time.

dog-eat-dogThe movie Dog eat dog is one of the craziest movies I have seen in years. Even by the way they do things in the movie, you can tell it’s awesome. They had trippy moments in the movie where it showed you their view of things. Like the one part the screen was moving slow and changing with rainbow colors, it was amazing. Also, the cast was picked perfectly they made it seem like they were all close friends. The movie was technically like a spin off of Wild at Heart. Except in Wild at Heart they have different names and the plots were different. The actors honestly portrayed their characters so well.

Dog eat dog is the first movie since 1990 where Willem Dafoe and Nicolas Cage starred together. The last  movie they did together was  in 1990 and was called “Wild at heart”. The movie Dog eat dog is just as psychedelic as Wild at heart. The movies are very similar with their mind games. If you are into crazy-psychotic movies then you would love Dog eat dog. The movie Dog eat dog is rated R so it is not for everyone. I recommend watching Wild at Heart so you can understand how they are similar.
